The Civic Media: Collaborative Design Studio, based at MIT, generates civic media projects that are grounded in real-world community needs. They partner with community-based organizations, and use co-design and lean startup methods for project ideation, design, prototyping, testing, launch, and stewardship. DiscoTech brought together folk to explore, learn about, and share each others’ experiences with surveillance. It joins community organizations, technologists, developers, and designers to sprint/hack on projects together.
Role
Templatized Disco(vering)Tech(nology) events. This template was used to hold events from Mexico City to Ramallah to New York City. I also organized Boston’s event, and facilitated the event in San Francisco.
