The John Nicholas Brown Center for Public Humanities and Cultural Heritage’s innovative MA program, engaged programs, and professional development workshops help students, practitioners and communities make the humanities meaningful and accessible.
Role
Professor of Practice for a class at Brown around digital community. Selected and coordinated with local and international community groups doing work which could be augmented by a digital intervention. Developed a teaching plan, curriculum, facilitated classes, and coordinated with community partners on stating their needs. Supported students through a semester of research, design, and implementation to understand and take action to build and support those communities through digital tools. Then guided community partners and students in setting reasonable expectations based on needs and skills, the process of documenting their project trajectories and handoffs, and maintaining integrity through the arc of the course.
