NetHope
Ebola Response Project

November 2014 – February 2015
Sierra Leone – Guinea – Liberia

NetHope is an American consortium of 50 American non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that specialize in improving IT connectivity among humanitarian organizations in developing countries and areas affected by disaster.

The NetHope Ebola Project worked to deploy communications equipment, connectivity solutions, and crisis data mapping in a unified way to enable the Ebola effort in West Africa.

Role

Invited to speak to the extended Berkman-Klein community about my extensive experience in humanitarian/disaster response practice in the field, coordinating digital/distributed efforts, and studying. I used complex-systems research to describe combining centralized and distributed decision making structures (mixed-mode systems) as applied to response and suggested future program design frameworks.
